The Winter Survival Trip is open to all my students who have taken at least the Phase 1 class. There will be a minimal fee of $35.00 to take the trip and there will be ongoing instruction relating to winter survival. Come along with us and put your survival skills to the test! When you sign up for the class, you will be informed as to where we will meet and where the class will be taken. You may bring the fee with you either in cash or a personal check or money order.
Survival and Bushcraft Phase 1 is the starting point for all that we teach. No matter your skill level, you will enjoy this class. Unless you are highly skilled in Wilderness Survival and Bushcraft, it is recommended that you take this class before going to the Phase 2 level as you may not have the skills necessary to pass the Advanced class tasks. Do check out the gear list tab to ensure you have all the necessary equipment, paying special attention to the compass and knife descriptions. Students as young as 8 years old may take this class when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and will receive a junior certificate upon course completion. Students 12 and older will receive the full certificate upon completion as long as they are able to accomplish all the required tasks. Class begins at 3pm on Thursday and ends Saturday at approximately 3-5pm, depending on how long it takes the class to complete the final tasks etc.
This is the class where we take it to the next level! This is where your Bushcraft and Survival Skills from Phase 1 really begin to show. We recommend that you do not take this class unless you are already skilled in the areas that are covered in Phase 1. You will be tested in all the areas from Phase 1 as well as building on the foundation of all seven areas of Survival and Bushcraft. You will be e-mailed the gear list for this class when you sign up for the class, or we can send it to you in the mail, if you wish. Make sure and contact us with your e-mail or address when you sign up. This class begins at 9am on Thursday morning and runs for 60 hours of intense instruction and hands-on training. Come prepared to learn and experience the thrill of advanced survival and bushcraft!
This is where your skills from Survival and Bushcraft phases 1 and 2 come to the forefront. You will be tested on multiple levels, learning how to make items as our ancestors did to effect long term survival in the wilderness. This is definitely for the advanced student of Survival and Bushcraft as you will find it difficult to do these tasks unless you have first passed Phase 1 and Phase 2 classes. This class begins at 9am on Thursday morning and runs for a full sixty hours of intense training. When you sign up for this class you will be e-mailed the gear list. You may also elect to have the list sent by regular mail, if you wish. This class includes fire using only means available to the pioneers, axe nomenclature, usage and maintenance, using crosscut and buck saws, log cabin notching, log squaring using broad axes and foot adze, setting up a proper pioneer camp, cooking game on a spit, how to set up and use steel traps, night navigation and self aid taught by a former Navy Medic and a whole lot more!
It's time to get ready for the real thing. In this class, we will reach back into the near and distant past to re-learn the knowledge and skills that our ancestors knew and practiced. Limited gear, primitive living conditions and constant testing of your will to endure. Skills include flint knapping, making a stone or bone knife, primitive pottery and firing, basket weaving, making a sleeping mat, living in a bark wegiwam, and much more!
