For Father's Day, my wife Heather signed my boys and I up for a father/son outing. This was a 48 hour class with WayPoint Survival. It was time well spent. James Bender's passion for the subject was matched by his knowledge. It was not only good, clean fun (and work) but also educational. Everything was well balanced and planned out with lots of hands-on activities. I appreciated that there were not only men there but that the instructor also welcomed us fathers bringing our sons with us. Noah said that he liked the instructor's patience with us as well as he enjoyed learning navigation by compass. Elijah said that his favorite part was getting to be with his dad. I grew up with a man's man for a father and he taught me a whole lot of life hacks and a love for learning. I enjoyed this learning time. Our modern era has caused us men to lose a whole lot of what used to be common knowledge and man skills. It felt good to pick some of that back up to pass it on and help others.
For those of you considering attending one of WayPoint Survival's classes, I would highly recommend that you take the time and opportunity to do so. The class that my boys and myself attended was very challenging and enlightening. My boys are 11 and 14 and we all learned things to better our skills in the outdoors, and to better understand the basic skills of survival. We don't realize how many of these skills have been lost over the generations. You never know when your life, or someone else's, may be dependent upon you owning these skills. The instructor was very patient and thorough in his teaching and instructing. This isn't just a sit around the camp fire kind of weekend....you're gonna go home with a LOT of knowledge. James Bender knows what he's talking about and you can see and feel his passion for the outdoors. We give him and his class a thumbs up!
